About

Dr. Max E. Bailey is a native of Richmond, Indiana. He graduated with honors from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 1978. Upon graduation he was awarded the Bausch & Lomb Outstanding Achievement Award for his work with contact lenses, and the Irvin M. Borish Award from the American Optometric Foundation for his paper on ophthalmic photography. He is an alumnus of the second graduating class of Leadership Wayne County, and has served as a board member of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the United Way of Wayne County (including two years as secretary), the Wayne County Nursing Professional Utilization and Review Board, and Civic Hall Associates. He is a member of the Richmond Rotary Club, serving as president for the year 1996-97. He has served one term as president of the Whitewater Valley Optometric Society, and three terms as secretary/treasurer. He was an adult leader of the Silver Spurs 4H Horse & Pony Club. In December 1991, he became a member of the prestigious American Academy of Optometry. He was a founding member of the local country band Crossroads, playing drums and singing. He is married to Eva, and they have two grown sons, Travis and Aaron, and one granddaughter, Audrey Dixon. His hobbies include photography, reading & audiobooks, music (including playing the drums), movies, and horseback riding.
